We were driving west on a road and a motorcycle cop was driving east. The cop claims we were going 64 miles an hour. he was going east at 40 miles an hour. how does he accuratly know are speed because he did not point any radar at us and he would have had no time to?
We were not shot with radar from another car because we had just left the parking lot.

There may have been another one on your side of the road that was using radar, (or any one of several types of speed control timing devices) and just calls out the speeding vehicle to a "chase" car sitting nearby.

yep, saw it on the news, the engine actually came out of the frame and went sliding down the road upon impact. he was riding a Yamaha R1. there are photos on the news website. i consider that man dead even though he is in critical condition.

Here’s my situation I was on a red light waiting to turn left and head south I noticed the officer on his motorcycle across the intersection wait to turn right to head south too….the officer was waiting there for a few…he could of went but didn’t…all of a sudden he goes I’m still waiting at the light….light turns green and I go…I see him down the street…me and my girl noticed that the officer had both hands on his handlebar no radar gun in hand and before the cop pulls me over I told my girl I was gonna get pulled over…the officer told me I was going approximately 60 on a 45….I wanted to ask him how did he get that without a radar gun but I decided not to ask him…can anyone help me out what to do…should I fight this ticket…

no no no no. 2 things, if he didn’t have you on radar, and if he doesn’t have the proper training to use it, you just go to court like any other ticket you have. EVERY ticket you get, you go to court and you swear to the judge that all you say is the truth and you got like a 60% chance of passing. if you stick with glue to your story and it makes sense. and i advise you to look for any written mistakes on the ticket. date, time, street location, even your name, color of car, etc. any of those can almost void the ticket immediatly in court. AND you say there was only one cop, better luck.
and no, you don’t need to hire a lawyer. it’s you the judge and maybe the stupid cop that gave you the ticket will be there. like i said EVERY ticket you get, go to court for it, you got the odds on your side. even if you broke the law or not.
although, this is how it runs in quebec, too may tickets were void cuz most cops weren’t qualified for the radar guns, so people went to court and said, "yeah, show me your qualifications" and they were like, uh, uh, i…, uh. so after a while the government passed the law that every cop here need to be qualified for that, but, still easy to void it. i don’t know where you’re from so it could always run different especially if it’s not the same country but, man, don’t just let it pass .

I was driving about 45 mph in Orange County where the posted speed limit goes from 40 to 35 and saw a motorcycle cop parked on the opposite side of the street. I slowed down and he got behind me and pulled me over. It appears that he’s there often. At the speed most people are going, the citations have nothing to do with safety and everything to do with generating revenue. I’d really like to fight this ticket if I’m able to.

To summarize Alyssa’s point, California has an odd definition of "speed trap," which is the use of radar on a road posted for a speed under 55 mph when that speed is not justified by a recent traffic survey. If the officer paced you, rather than use a radar, there does not have to be a traffic survey, and if he used a radar the odds are that there is a survey.

California uses a "basic speed law," which is that you must drive at a speed which is reasonable and prudent for the road conditions. Going over the posted speed limit (if that is under 55) is prima facie evidence that your speed was not reasonable and prudent. But if you can convince the hearing officer that going 45 mph in that 35 mph zone was reasonable and prudent then you will not be found guilty. (The odds of that are also low)

I have a sport bike that runs off of a 6 volt system, I’m about to attach a 12volt radar detector onto the bike. Will I have to make any modifications to the bike in order to run the radar detector?

There hasn’t been a sport bike produced with a 6v system since 1966.If you think that your bike is only 6v because your battery has 6 cells then you are mistaken.A 6 cell battery is 12v.If you have a 6v system I’d like to know what bike it is.

I see ads on ebay and craigslist for like 25 bucks for radar detectors, then when i google it i find ones easily up to $500. They look to be the same, am i missing something?

You could buy the $25 dollar one but it wont do a thing the best one ive used in my opinion catches the cops all time is a Valentine One. it about 500 dollars buy hey if you buy the $25 dollar one and end up with a ticket it will probably cost you more.

Hi guys, i live in Indianapolis, and i ride a SportBike.
I’m usually a VERY safe rider, but occassionally ill hit 60-70 on the streets and 140 on the highway.

well today, i passed by a van on the street at about 56 MPH. when i got to a stoplight, the guy started talking trash to me, and cussing me out. so what i did was put more volume on my speakers, and when the light turned green i just blasted off.

when i got home, i started thinking to myself, and ive decided to pipe down on doing 60 mph on the streets, but i would like to know:

Do people get mad when a Motorcycle passes them at 70MPH or 145MPH

As stated there are hundreds of models to choose from but beware.Some States and some Canadian provinces have laws against them.One in particular is Ontario Canada.If you get caught with a radar detecting device installed on a motor vehicle they will seize it remove the device and sell it at public auction.
